ST MARY'S SCHOOL (2 BROOKSIDE, CAMBRIDGE), where our courses are held this summer, is one of the most reputable schools in the university city of Cambridge. It is situated in the heart of the city and by a brook (a small river - hence the name of the street in the address), only a few minutes walk from the public library, Cambridge Arts Theatre and most of the restaurants, cafeterias, discos, cinemas and designer shops. Whatever your interest, whether it be drama, sport, music, jazz, films
or books, you can find some way of doing it. For students who are interested in sports, facilities for badminton, cricket, tennis, netball, squash, rugby, soccer, table tennis and swimming are conveniently positioned. The main bus terminal in the city and Cambridge Railway Station are within walking distance.
St. Mary's at 2 Brookside is a handsome Victorian building which has recently been refurbished. It consists of three floors with bright and comfortable classrooms and a computer centre where students can check and send their email daily. An extensive library of books and video films is available in case students wish to borrow these to read or watch at home.
Accommodation is in shared or single rooms with local host families in or around Cambridge. Lunches, and daily refreshments are taken at St Mary's School from Monday to Friday, while other meals are provided by the host families, who offer a packed lunch on excursion days. The Centre takes great care in the selection of reliable accommodation. Good host families contribute greatly to the happiness and success of
a student's stay, introducing him or her to local life and providing valuable opportunities for the student to practise the language. |
Students are helped to take full advantage of the rich variety of social, cultural and sports activities offered by Cambridge with its lively student population. The course programme includes about 3 hours of activities every day. Additionally, visits to London, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Brighton and other places of interest are arranged throughout the course period. |
